Halapepe   Pleomeole auwahiensis

Family:  Agavaceae

Description:  Halapepe is a shrub to small tree depending on its age and environment. Halapepe grow in upper elevation dry forests as well as mesic environments.  You can kind of think of halapepe as a Dracena plant as they are closely related. When mature, this plant has a very showy cluster of yellow flowers amongst the long green strap leaves and long slender greyish trunk. Plant in well drained soil and avoid overwatering. Can be used as a specimen plant and though slow growing while young, can reach heights up to 25 feet.
