`Ilima, `Ilima papa   Sida fallax

Family:  Malvaceae

Description:  `Ilima is a shrub or groundcover depending on the growth habit of the mother stock. `Ilima papa refers to the low growing variety. Green-gray foliage with yellow flowers make this an attractive addition to any landscape. The flowers are used in lei-making. Extremely hardy, this plant is native to coastal and dry environments and requires full sun and low water. As a groundcover, plant 2 feet apart and let the planting fill in; takes well to pruning. Allow a 4 foot spread for the shrub variety. We grow `Ilima and `Ilima pap from both seeds and cuttings.
