Lama   Diospyros sandwicensis

Family: Ebenaceae

Description:  Lama trees are related to Persimmon trees and in the Ebony family.  They are extremely slow growing and have a dark wood with small orange fruits when ripe.  Lama grows well in full sun and requires less water once established.  A very special tree, lama makes a good specimen tree and should be planted in well drained soil.  We grow lama from seed and often plants are often more than two years old before reaching 18 inches in height.
