Mamaki   Piptirus albidus

Family: Urticaceae

Description:  This plant is in the Nettle family and the fresh or dried leaves may be used in teas as a healthful tonic. The red venation set against the green leaves make this plant attractive as a mass planting or specimen plant. This plant will grow to be a small tree, so allow for up to a 15 foot spread and 20 foot height. Mamaki must have its feet wet and will do fine in partial shade or full sun. We grow this plant from seed.
