Native Plant Nursery Technician 1 – Full-Time Entry Level Position Posted: March 4, 2024
Native Nursery, LLC is a wholesale native Hawaiian plant and fruit tree nursery located in Kula, Maui.
Our mission is to promote and provide the best quality plant material for reforestation, landscape, and agriculture in the Hawaiian Islands.
This opening is an opportunity to join our dedicated full-time staff working outdoors in upcountry Maui.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Pack, clean and verify accuracy of outgoing plant orders
Prepare plants for shipment to neighbor islands following strict pest and plant disease quality control standards
Propagate, prune and maintain target species for retail and wholesale orders
Monitor crops for plant health, watering, and weed prevention
Clean and maintain retail inventory, tools, and nursery benches on a weekly basis
Job Requirements:
High School Diploma/GED
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Valid Driver’s License and reliable transportation to work
Ability to work outside in diverse weather conditions and wear appropriate sun, rain, wind protection as needed
Ability to prioritize and complete multiple tasks to meet order deadlines
Willingness to learn new plant species and common weeds of Hawaii
Desirable Skills:
Working knowledge of native Hawaiian plants
Experience in horticulture, plant propagation, agriculture or a related field
